Show Slack, Rovley File for County Positions Two more Republicans tossed their hats Into the political ring this week seeking important county offices, and making fixe Republicans who have filed for county offices. One of them a new candidate, is seeking a county candidate for his first try In government service, the other Is seeking re-election to a position posi-tion he has held for many years. Morgan Slack of Cedar City, never a government official but long an active civic worker, filed fil-ed during the week for the Republican Re-publican nomination for the position po-sition of four year county commissioner. com-missioner. The position he seeks Is now held by Lyman Sevy, Republican, Re-publican, who has indicated that he will not seek re-election this year. Slack Is the second Republican to file for the position, Wm. R. "Bill" Thorley of Cedar City having hav-ing filed two weeks ago. In announcing an-nouncing his candidacy Mr. Slack emphasized that he was not going to campaign on any particular issue, such as the television tele-vision question. "Rather," he said, I am Interested In serving the county In such a way that would be of the greatest benefit to the entire county and all Its residents. Economic stability In the county Is of the greatest importance im-portance and if elected I aim to devote my entire efforts to this situation." he concluded. The other candidate to file during the week was W. Clair Rowley, who has served very capably In the position of county coun-ty Clerk for many years. He will seek re-election to the position, for a four year term, indicating that if successful in returning to the position he would plan to retire re-tire at the end of the term. The other two Republicans, in addition to Slack, Rowley and Thorley, who have filed for positions po-sitions are John Rowberry and Charles "Chuck" Wells, both of Cedar City. Rowberry is seeking the Re-Duhluiifi Re-Duhluiifi nomination for the two . . . . 1 year lerin coumy i-uiiuiussiuiict, in an attempt to be elected to the commission to succeed Jess Guymon of Parowan. Guymon, it is understood, will seek reelection. re-election. The hold-over commissioner commis-sioner is Myron F. Iligbee of Cedar Ce-dar City, and if Rowberry Is successful suc-cessful In his campaign, all three county commissioners would be residents of Cedar City. |
