Lynn Grimshaw and Avy Matheson will take their demonstrations demon-strations on "How to Cover a Brtt," to the state contest. Trudy Jones and Darla Garfield were also blue ribbon winners with their demonstration on "breakfast "break-fast fruits." Exhibits to be taken tm Salt Lake include the Buzzie Ba second year foods and the Six Stitchers first year clothing. Lynn and Ann Grimshaw's record books will be entered In the state contest. In the judging contest at Parowan Trudy Jones placed first, Leon Maxwell, second sec-ond and Lynn Grimshaw tied for third. We received a number r blue ribbons in the Individual Individ-ual dress exhibits and the other fsods and clothing exhibits. Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Ted) Nelson and children of Manhattan. Manhat-tan. Kan., are visiting with relatives rela-tives and friends here and in Cedar City. Ted is a son of Mrs. Roice Nelson. He Is attending school in Manhattan and expects to complete his studies in six more months. Mr. and Mrs. Winters of Devil-slide Devil-slide are visiting here with her sn ln-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Nelson and family. Awards were presented to a number of our girls Sunday. Receiving Re-ceiving the awards were Marie Anderson, Lynn and Ann Grimshaw, Grim-shaw, Avy and Karen Matheson, Cora Lee Gibson, Audrey Armstrong, Arm-strong, Beverly Jones, Linda Grimshaw and Karllna Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Stucki of Kaysville, parents of Mrs. Dolph Grimshaw, visited here and in Cedar City for a few days. There have been eight Indian children living with the follow, ing families: Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Jones, two, a boy and a girl; Earl Murie, a girl; Elton Rich-ardson, Rich-ardson, a boy; Roland Anderson, a boy; Henry Grimshaw, a girl; James Smith, a girl, and Dolph Grimshaw, a boy. We had a frost on Aug. 20 that did quite a bit. of damage to the corn and gardens. William Grimshaw has moved to St. George for the winter. He is going to work in the L D S temple. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Forbes of Layton vlslid with Mrs. Forbes' sister, Maurlne Grimshaw and family. Other visitors at the Grimshaw home were Mr. and Mrs. John Roper and four children chil-dren of Colorado. Peter Grimshaw had a birthday birth-day party Friday, Aug. 30. Helen Jones, Lela Gibson, Barbara Bar-bara Brytna, Maurlne Grimshaw, and Mildred Maxwell spent Wednesday, Au. 28, in Miners-vllle Miners-vllle helping Judge the 4-H division di-vision of the Beaver County Fair. |
