Show Robert - Benjamin Knell Posterity Hold Meet 1 Perfect weather with clear skies and warm sunshine wel corned the descendants of Robert and Benjamin Knell at a family reunion held Sunday and Monday, Mon-day, Sept. 1 and 2 in Cedar City and in the old home town of Pinto, Utah. The first meeting was held in Cedar City Second Ward chapel cha-pel it 6 p. ra Sunday, with Ru-Ion Ru-Ion knell as chairman conducting. conduct-ing. Seventy-two members attended, at-tended, enjoying a program of community singing, and special musical numbers, consisting of a violin solo by Kay Robinson of Phoenix, Ariz., accompanied by his sister Kate R. Domack of Los Angeles, and a quartet by Naida Gardner and her family, Sheila, Dayne and Eric of Cedar City, accompanied by Vivien Knell of Newcastle. An outstand. ing inspirational talk on the importance im-portance of genealogical work, was given by Inez Robinson, Preece of Salt Lake City. Dr. Paul Palmer spoke on his family! line, that of Robert Knell. A social hour was held immediately im-mediately following the meeting meet-ing at the city park and continued contin-ued later at the home of Arthur and Rhoda Jones. Fun and visiting was enjoyed the following morning at Pinto with 170 present, at the Snow Ranch. Luncheon was prepared for all. At the meeting Monday, Mar-la Mar-la Piatt, long-time resident of Pinto, spoke of its settlement and her association with Robert Knell. Woodruff Cannon of St. George, tdso spoke on the family organization. Life sketches of the lives of Robert and Benjamin Knell were given by Eva Cannon Can-non Woodbury and Rulon Knell. Special music for this meeting consisted of a trio by Herbert Knell and son Ronald and Ches-,ter. Ches-,ter. They sar.? an original song composed for the occasion. Maria Mar-ia Piatt Munford and Robert Piatt sang the old Handcart song. Business was consumated and the following officers elected: Rulon Knell, president; Gordon Knell, and Harry Knell, vice presidents, and Rhoda Palmer Janes, secretary and treasurer, with a family representative from each of the nine children of Robert and Benjamin, forming form-ing a governing board. |
