Show , Gedar City Social Swing Last Monday evening an open house was held at the new armory arm-ory In St George. The host for the evening was Battery B of the 213th F. A. Bn., Captain Wen-. Wen-. dell Motter In command. Cedar aty residents traveling to St. George to enjoy the banquet program and dance as guests of the Btry were Lt Col and Mrs. Max Dalley, Major and Mrs. Eugene Eu-gene Woolf, Captain and Mrs. David Melville. Sgt and Mrs. El-rner El-rner Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Esmeler From Salt Lake Oty came Major General Maxwell Max-well E. Rich. Brig. General Maur. ire Watts, and Brig. General Alma Al-ma Wynn. Mr and Mrs. Fallas Olofson had as their house guests for the week end Mr. Olofson's sister and husband. Mr. and Mrs. R. . II. Adams, from Salt Lake City. The home of Lona Watson was the scene for the final winter meeting of her Reading Club. The afternoon was spent hearing piano rolls and listening to Mrs. Watson sing numbers from the musical "My Fair Lady". The group was also taken on a trin to Hawaii through pictures anrt stories given by Mrs. Watson from her trip last fall. A delicious delic-ious luncheon of shrimp salad, nut bread, cheese and drink was served by the hostess, assisted by Margaret Urie and Sadie Thorley. Special guests for the afternoon's after-noon's entertainment were Alma Larson. Katherine Williams. Misha Jones, and Chloe N. Bailey of Nephl. The club will resume meeting In June. The home Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Williams was the scene of an open house Wednesday evening In honor of their recent mar-Tlage. mar-Tlage. The immediate neighbors were invited to greet the couple during the hours from seven o'clock until nine. Light refreshments refresh-ments were served. Co-hostess for the evening were Zoella Benson, Mlna Orton and Muriel Smith. Mrs. Williams and the former Annie Marker of Hurricane Hurri-cane wert married In Las Vegas on March 31. On hand to welcome Tonl La.nbert as she stepped off the bus from San Marino, California last Saturday were a group of her f.iends and her family. Toni Is hot-e from school on her spring vacation. With her she brought her cousin, Kathy. daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. M. Clark, at whose home Tonl has been staying during the past winter. Many activities have been planned, among which are a trip to the home of her grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. II. Lambert In Lehl, an Easter hike la Zion, a horseback riding outing out-ing and attending school and seeing old friends and teachers. Tonl was guest of honor at a welcome home party given by Pat Woolsey last Saturday evening even-ing at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Ross Woolsey. Lunch was served to Grace Miller, Mil-ler, Vickie Jones, Tommy Holy, oak. Jay Smith, John Pace, Alar. Atherley, the guest of honor and the hostess. Records, dancing and TV were enjoyed during the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Lambert will see their daughter and niece off on their return trip to San Marino Easter Sunday. They will bo looking forward to Toni's graduation from the eighth grade In June at which time they antl-clpate antl-clpate her returning home for a longer stay. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Hansen have been Mrs. Chloe N. Bailey of Nephi. Mrs. Hansens moiher, and Mrs. A. K. Hansen of Long Beach, mother of Mr Hansen. Both ladles have returned to their respective homes. rhyllls Cooley entertained her bridge club Tuesday evening. A delicious ribbon sandwich and orange frappe drink and fondmt roll were served after which bridge was played. Prizes went to Geneve riummcr, Mary Leigh, and Ann Gardner. Mrs. Cooley had invited Mary Leigh as a j special guest for the evening. Virginia Leonard was very happy to greet her sisters, Mrs. Al Bagley of Bountiful, Mrs. Rul-on Rul-on Winter of American Fork and Mrs. Walt Radke and her two children of Emmett, Idaho, as. they arrived for a visit Tuesday. Mrs. Leonard's brothers-in-law will arrive today, Thursday, and the group will enjoy southern Utah scenery over the Easter week end. The M. B. W. club reports hav. Ing enjoyed several interesting afternoons together recently. At the home of Althea Brown, Jhe Pryor Daller review the life history of her mother, Margaret Evans Pryor, who was a noted nurse here in the earlier days of Cedar City. After refreshments were served Mrs. Dalley presented present-ed each of the members a book on the life of her mother. During Dur-ing another afternoon, Helga Christensen Invited the memhors to her home and requested that each bring her favorite record. The afternoon was spent enjoy. Ing the lovely music. Last Friday Fri-day a non-hostess party was held at the home of Zolpha Wood. Canasta was played after which a pot luck dinner was enjoyed. Elections were conducted for the coming year with the following officers named: Helga Christensen, Christen-sen, president; Alene Leigh, vice president; Kate Stephenson, secretary; Zelpha Wood, representative; repre-sentative; program committee, Nettie Flaniean, Althea Brown and Grace in. . The entertainment entertain-ment committee will consist of Pauline Hunter, Juanita Naegle, Libby Parry and Villa Arns. Luree Schmutz and Rayma Anderson left Tuesday for Salt Lake City where they will meet Mrs. Eldon L. Schmutz of New Harmony, who Is returning from Washington, D C, where she has been visiting with her daughter. Amilee Schmutz. Luree and her mother-in-law plan to return Friday to Cedar City. Mrs. Anderson An-derson will stop off In Holden to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Stevens, until Sunday at which time her husband, Herman Her-man Anderson, will drive to Holden to meet them and return to Cedar. |
