Show Central Council Members Elected at Meet R. L. Halversen and Mrs. J. S. Prestwich were elected to the central council of the Cedar City Coordinating Council In an clec-tlon clec-tlon held In connection with the general meeting of the council Monday evening. Those elected council members mem-bers will fill the expired terms of A. W. Stephenson, now serv- Ing as chairman of the coun- cil, and Rhoda Jones, both of whom have completed their elective terms. In the near future the council coun-cil will meet and elect officers to serve for the coming year, according ac-cording to Marian Hahne, coordinator. coor-dinator. In addition to the election, the Monday evening session was devoted de-voted to a dlxcusslon of ways and means of obtaining more publicity for Cedar City through various news media. The discussion discus-sion was conducted by Chairman Stephenson. In attendance were Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain editors of both the Salt Lake Tribune and the Deseret News. Although discussed on a broader broad-er term comments were directed more specifically to the state papers. Here it was explained that publicity for publicity's sake, does not make news. Both representatives of the Tribune and News advocated that releases re-leases directed to their publications publi-cations should be made to contain con-tain more "news" material of broad Interest to the entire state and not specifically to Cedar City. - - Considerable discussion was also hel4 regarding certain pa-per pa-per policies particularly ai they applied to sports -coverage. All representatives of news outlets Indicated that they preferred pre-ferred organizations to submit information on various stories and suggested that various organizations or-ganizations do not attempt to pre-wrlte stories. Chairman Stephenson explained explain-ed that the purpose of the discussion dis-cussion was to determine more advantageous means of disseminating dissem-inating news information to the various media.
