Show I CEDAR CITY SOCIAL ACTIVITIES By Virginia Webster ; CSU FACULTY PARTY j A gala Yuietide celebration be-gan be-gan at 6:30 Tuesday when the College of Southern Utah Faculty members and their partners met in the small ballroom at tne ;tu dent center for a friendship hour which preceded a traditional dinner and dance social, a colorful color-ful and delicious array of buffet foods was served to guests at 7:00 p. m. The dinner was complemented com-plemented by a program undei the direction of Paul Vorkink. A1-' ter the dinner hour, gifts were exchanged and the remainder of the evening was spent dancing and visiting. Committee co-chair-men for the event were Lawrence Cooper and Thomas Challis. They were assisted by faculty members mem-bers Hazel Urie, Leonard Witt, Paul Vorkink, D. C. Schmutz, Bessie Dover, Inez Cooper and Dean Pearson. Beta Sigma Phi members will gather for their traditional holiday holi-day party this coming Saturday night at Milt's Stage Stop. A diner and program will high light the entertainment for tne evening, according to committee members. j The Sugar Loaf Cafe employ-'ees employ-'ees were entertained by Mr. and i?.irs. Bruce Atkin Monday even-j even-j ing following cafe closing time. ' Over 20 employees and their part-I part-I ners were treated to a "Beef Fondu" dineer. After dinner, entertainment en-tertainment consisted of a talent show put on by employees and I gift exchanging among the guests. Wednesday night, December 15, pinochle club members enjoyed en-joyed a special holiday dinner party at Sullivan's Cafe. The event was a non-hostess affair climaxed by exchanging gitts among the iollowing guests: Elsie El-sie Seegmilier, Mildred Thompson, Thomp-son, Eve Dean Milne, Evelyn Taylor, Margaret Gamble, Betty Perkins, Alton riartman and Le-Onia Le-Onia Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ashman, accompanied by their son anu daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. i.olan Ashman of St. George, spent the week end in Henderson, Hender-son, Nevada, as guests ol Dr. and Mrs. Charles Ashman. The Albert Ashmans are expecting all of their family here lor Christmas Christ-mas including a son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Preston Thompson and their live boys of Vvainut Creek, Caniornia. ihe Thompsons will arrive Dcembei 20 and will spend a two week vacation here visiting with family fam-ily and friends and skiing at Brian Head. READING CLUB The December Reading Club social was held Friday at the home of E;ilen Hopkins with Kuth Seegmilier assisting as co- ' hostess. ' How Many Allies to Bethlehem" a seasonal slory by I Nora Lott was reviewed by Llene Jenson. The holiday spirit was not only expressed in the theme oi the book review but also in the unusual white nylon Christinas Christ-inas tree surrounded with color-lul color-lul balls which was a centcr-peice centcr-peice of decorations about the Hopkins living room. The tree j had been made by Mrs. Hop- j kins' granddaughter, Slierri. i During the afternoon social reading club members paid tri- j bute to Ada Leigh who had celebrated cele-brated her birthday anniversary on December 9. Refreshments were served and holiday greetings greet-ings were exchanged befoie the group adjournd. Captain and Mrs. Dayne Gardner Gard-ner and their son Jeffery who reside re-side in Monterey, California, where Capt. Gardner attends Naval Na-val graduate school will arrive next week to spend Christmas at the home with their families, Mr. and Mrs. LaNell Lunt and Mr. and Mrs. Kumen Gardner. DAMES CLUB Following the College of Southern South-ern Utah basketball game Saturday Satur-day night, members of the Dames Club and their husband met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence Cooper for their annual Christmas party. Festivities Included In-cluded dancing, games and refreshments. re-freshments. In keeping with the noliday spirit, the children of Dames Club members met Monday Mon-day morning for a special party with Santa Claus In attendance. |
