Show One Time Parowan Resident Succumbs in Magna Daniel Crawford, 86, a Parowan resident for many years, died last Saturday noon at the home of a son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Carl Crawford in Magna, Utah, from ailments in-( cident to age. Funeral service were held for him on Wednes-1 jday of this week at 2 p. m. in; the Springdale LDS Ward Cha- I pel and burial took place in the Springdale cemetery. I Mr. Crawford was born Mar. 25, 1879 in Rockville, a son of Wm. R. and Cornelia Gifford, Crawford. The family moved to Springdale when he was a child and they resided there until they moved to Parowan in 1931.. Married Nov. 12, 1901 to Sarah Sar-ah S. Curtis, and the marriage was later solemnized In the St. I George LDS Temple. They resid-' resid-' ed In Springdale until they came jto Parowan where they operated , a farm In Parowan Valley for a number of years, and then built a home In town where they resided until they moved, first to St. George and then to Salt Lake City. Always active In affairs of the LDS Church, he served as Sunday Sun-day School Superintendent in Springdale, then as bishop of that ward for five years, being released from that position when they moved to Parowan. While living here he served on the West Ward Genealogical committee com-mittee and then as councilor in the ward bishopric, to Bishop T. Wendell Bayles. Surviving are his widow, and five children: Carl L., Magna; Merle Crawford, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Sheldon (Leola) Alsen, Springdale; Daniel B., Cedar City Ci-ty and Mrs. Howard (Vilate) Joseph, Parowan. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 38 grandchildren. |
