Show Department of Health Issues Warning On Use of Ice Balls A warning against the use of plastic ice balls was issued in Cedar City this week by Dr. L. V. Broadbcnt, president of the Utah State Medical Association. Tests in the state have shown that the ice balls are contaminated. contamin-ated. In a report issued from the State Health Department it was stated "that three per cent of the first 150 Ice balls sampled are showing early evidence of contamination, con-tamination, which presumably Is hazardous to humans. It Is strongly urged that people avoid use of Ice balls, or similar water-filled water-filled plastic devices, pending further report." Tales of the ice balls in the Cedar City area have been reported. re-ported. The water-filled ice balls, imported im-ported from Hong Kong, are frozen froz-en and then used to cool drinks. Several of the balls confiscated In the Salt Lake City area were found to be leaking. The pastlc balls are slightly smaller than a ping pong ball. |
