Show First-Second Ward to Renovate Facilities The members of the Parowan First and Second Wards are making mak-ing preparations to launch a remodeling re-modeling and renovating project pro-ject on the chapel which has been In use by those wards since 1928, according to word given out by officers of the two wards In ecent weeks. Some of the work, Uiat In the recreation hall of the edifice, h now under way, but the malr portion of the project will not get under way until after the first of the year, state those In charge. Work In the recreation recrea-tion hall that is now going forward for-ward includes Installing nev unbreakable glass, raising the lighting system into the ceiling and the Installation of basket' so the hall can be used by the young people in the two wards for basketball practice. Before the major portion of the project can get under way, ward officials will conduct a drive fo: funds with which to undertake the project, with the fund drive to get under way immediately after af-ter the first of the year. Funr" drive committees are being organized or-ganized in each of the wards with Twenty Orton to head the committee In the First Ward anr" Edgar Benson heading the committee com-mittee in the Second ward, and Mrs. Joan Wheatley named as secretary of the committee In the Second Ward. Included in the project will be the Installation of a new nr more adequate furnace and heat-Ins? heat-Ins? system to .replace the present pres-ent one, the rewiring of the recreation rec-reation hall, classroom and Relief Society portions of the building. The chapel portion of the building build-ing was rewired a few years ago when an organ was installed, In that portion, we understand. Also some floors are to be recovered. re-covered. We understand that representatives represen-tatives from the headquarters of the church have visited the! building and made recommeda-tlons recommeda-tlons as to what should be undertaken un-dertaken by the ward In the way of an Improvement program. Funds raised by the two wards will be matched 50-50 in the recreation rec-reation ' hall renovation project under way now, by the LDS Church through the presiding Bishop's office. The church will pay for the other portion of the project on a 70 basis to 30r by ward members, we a,re told by Mr. Benson. |
