Show OUR NEW CEDAR CITY HIGH SCHOOL i This week will end activities at the Cedar High School for 103 i seniors who have completed their work here at Cedar High, have graduated and are ready to move forward to higher education edu-cation activities. But this year, activities at this school not only come to an end for the graduates but for the Juniors and sophomores as well, because next year we will move i to a completely new high school plant. So we all say goodbye, a little reluctantly, to this school with its many fond memories. Goodbyes are always a little sad, but should not be in this instance, in-stance, because as the seniors move on to college training, and the rest of us move to a beautiful new high school with all the modern facilities now available, this should be a "happy' goodbye. good-bye. Certainly we should all be enthused about what lies ahead for us, the great experience of educational opportunity provided through this ultra modern school, one of the finest In the state. The students and faculty of Cedar Ce-dar High will move Into the new school not later than January, 1964. The new school Is located in the southwest section of town and covers approximately 39 acres of ground, including the recreational re-creational facilities, parking and landscaped areas. The school consists of two units, one housing the gymnasiums gymna-siums and dressing rooms and the main unit to the west containing con-taining the auditorium and class room facilities. There are three gymnasiums located In the physical education department building. The boys' and girls' gymnasiums are elevated ele-vated on either side of the main gymnasium. The. girl s jrym, located lo-cated on the west side of the main gym, opens into a dancing area along with the usual physical physi-cal education facilities. The boys' gym, located on the east side of the main gym, will be used principally prin-cipally as an exercise room with basketball courts of the main section used for the different sports In the boys physical education edu-cation program. The gymnasium will seat about 3,000 people and will be used for all high school basketball games as well as for the physical education edu-cation classes and other activities. activi-ties. Adequate dressing rooms will be provided, which will be a relief re-lief to all those In the physical education program. The auditorium located in the main building will seat 1,000 people. The stage will be large with small rooms in the back used lor dressing, and stage construction. con-struction. Excellent sound and lighting systems have been Installed. In-stalled. The class rooms have been designed de-signed for individual study. The language room for instance is filled with glass booths where students can listen to tapes or study. Films will be made available to students in the library where they can be checked out and taken tak-en to the small film room and watched Individually. The library will be the center of the main building wth conference con-ference rooms and reading rooms grouped around it. There will be special meeting rooms for lectures, lec-tures, films and other similar functions in this area also. Several individual study rooms in which students can go to study at their own speed, have been provided for In the new school. Class schedules will be much different at the new school, giving giv-ing more time for individual study and provides for extra time in classes in which you need help. The new class scheduling system will be similar to that of many colleges. The basement will be used for storage of materials and husses of the district. Also,' there will be provisions for a fallout shelter.
