Show "The Little Buckaroo Rodeo" Is Top Entertainment A new kind of entertainment' feature was presented in Parowan Paro-wan on Monday and Tuesday of this week at the rodeo arena at the city race track. Appearing for the first time in southern , Utah was the "Little Buckaroo Rodeo" staged for the benefit of young people up to 14 years of age. , The rodeo was staged by Mr. and Mrs. Burn ice Hunsaker of ; Tremonton, Utah and sponsoring the show in Parowan was the! Third Quorum of Elders of thej Third Ward. j The Hunsakers travel with the, entire show, which Includes the riding stock, pens and chutes, etc. i Participants in the show are re-1 stricted to boys and girls up to 14 years of age, and rules for the riding events were made to govern the awarding of prizes with certain prize winners to be eligible to participate in state fair competition In September. The riding stock consisted of Shetland ponies, steer calves, a mule and two buffalos, with the latter being rather on the wild side. The young people participated after registering and with their parents' consent, and while most of them "bit the dust" Just a few feet outside the chute gates, some of them were able to stick on for the necessay six seconds, to enter the select circle.. It was about the best entertainment for the public to come here In some time. It was quite amusing to see the youngsters come out of the gates, hit the dust of the arena in a few jumps, and then get up and beg for another chance at the game, some with tears in their eyes and determination written on their faces. And there was no lack of entries in all of the events on both nights. Two teams of ponies hitched to miniature chariots provided sport for older people who wanted want-ed to try it. The chariots were light and prone to tip over at all turns and we would advise you to ask Jim Benson, Hyatt Bentley and Verl Taylor about this part of the program. . |
