Show Sunday Farewell Testimonial Honors John Stephenson and Terry Marsden Two young men of the Cedar Second Ward will be honored Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m. at a joint Farewell testimonial. The two men are John Stephenson, Steph-enson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Stephenson and Jerry Marsden, son of Mrs. Arvilla Marsden. Both are members of the Cedar Second Ward and the testimonial will he held in the Second Ward Chapel. Friends and relatives of the two missionaries are invited to attend. Stephenson ha3 been called by the LDS Church to serve a mission mis-sion in the New England Mission field with headquarters at Cam- '-: 1 J.il -l.. I JERRY MARSDEN jV 1 JOHN E. STEPHENSON bridge, Mass. Southern States is the mission assigned to Marsden. Speakers at the Joint testimonial testimon-ial will be Gary Smith, Frank Petty and Leland Gentry with remarks by Bp. The:on Ashcroft, by the parents of the two missionaries mis-sionaries and a response by each of the missionaries. Special musical selections will include a vocal solo by Bert Carpenter, Car-penter, a vocal trio composed of Judy Ashcroft, Annette Seaman and Kathryn Seaman. Conducting will be Milton Sevy of the bishopric and prelude music mu-sic will be by Jane Fillmore. Friends of the missionaries, Richard Morrfs and Robert E. Lee, will offer the invocation and benediction, respectively. Active In Athletics Stephenson is a graduate of Cedar High School and has attended at-tended College of Southern Utah for the past year. In high school he participated in the athletic program for three years as a member of the football, basketball basket-ball and track teams. He also served as music representative for the year 1961-62 and was a member of the school's concert choir. While at CSU he has been affiliated af-filiated with the Gamma Psi Ep-siicn Ep-siicn fraternity, was a member of the chorus and participated as a member of the football and track teams. Stephenson also graduated from the LDS Seminary and was attending the LDS Institute of Religion while a student at CSU. Student Leader Marsden is also a graduate of Cedar High School and will receive re-ceive his associate degree from CSU in commencement exercises on June 6. While at Cedar High he served as student body president. In his junior year he was president of the LDS Seminary and completed the four year program In Seminary. Semin-ary. He was also a member of the Key Club, a member of the concert band and was on the tennis team. Marsden was selected as Valedictorian Vale-dictorian of the two-year graduates gradu-ates at CSU this year and will deliver his valedictory address Sunday, the same day as the testimonial in his honor. At CSU he was affiliated with the Gamma Gam-ma Psi Epsilon fraternity, was a member of the Circle K Club and a member of the Sigma Tau Sigma Honorary tutoring society. |
