Show Application for Utah Elk Hunt Permits Will Open August 3 Applications for permits on all elk hunting units will be received re-ceived at the main offices of the Utah Department of Fish and Game, 1596 West North Temple, Salt Lake City 16, beginning on Aug. r Application period will continue con-tinue through Aug. 17, with any letter postmarked later than midnight mid-night that date being returned to the sender. Elk applications may be made by mail only, in the green col-lored col-lored envelopes provided by the department of fish and game. These may be obtained from license li-cense agents throughout the state beginning Aug. 4, or from department offices. The special envelopes have been used for many years, with a resulting reduction in time needed to set up and conduct the public drawings. They have also proven valuable in returning return-ing the fee of the unsuccessful elk applicants at a much earlier date and at reduced cost, according accord-ing to the department The $15 application fee must be made in the form of a certified certi-fied check, cashier's check, personal per-sonal check or money order. Department De-partment spokesmen noted that in the event a successful applicant appli-cant submits a personal check and has insufficient funds the permit is forfeit. Currency will not be accepted. Only bona fide Utah residents may apply for elk permits. Applications Ap-plications must include the full name and address of the sender, choice of hunting unit, sex of animal, fee and big game license number. As with other big game hunts otily persons 16 years old or older old-er may apply for these permits. Under the law, anyone having obtained an elk permit during 1958, 1959, 1960 or 1961, may not apply for or possess such a permit per-mit during 1962. This legislative law requires successful elk ap-plcants ap-plcants to wait four years after having a permit before they may again apply. Date of the public drawings for all over-subscribed units is Aug. 28, beginning at 9 a. m., in the State Capitol. |
