String-fellow String-fellow announced today that he had been informed by the I- Ipartment of the Army that he could nominate three principal candidates fr admission to the United States Military Academy at West Point, N. Y., for the class beginning in July 1953. Arrangements have Ix'en made with the Civil Service Commission Commis-sion to conduct screening examinations exam-inations for these vacancies in order to select the best qualified young men. Applicants must be actual residents of the First Congressional Con-gressional District of Utah and must be at least 17 but not more than 22 years of age on July 1, 1953. A screening examination will be conducted at the post office in Cedar City commencing at 8:30 a. m. on Monday, May 4. Congressman Stringfellow urged urg-ed interested candidates to be sure they meet physical and mental requirements before taking tak-ing this examination. Inasmuch as experience has shown that many applicants fail to qualify sim ly because they are not prepared pre-pared for the mathematics section sec-tion of the examination, it is suggested sug-gested that a review of algebra and geometry should be very helpful to the examinees. Other sections of the mental examinations examina-tions deal with vocabulary, read-! read-! ing and spatial relations. |
