Show Jerry Frame Earns Class B JUl-State Honors; Gordon Slack Chosen for Second Team Spot ? . " :) ' f' ' St 'A j : - f JERRY FRAME Jerry Frame, hard charging center and line-backer on the Cedar City High School Redmen football team, has been named to the Class B all-state team for the second straight year, the only Cedar City player to gain such recognition. Frame, who was especially es-pecially brilliant in a defensive role as line-backer, was a tower of strength throughout the season in the Redmen's drive to their I third consecutive Region title, I and played an exceptionally fine game in the state semi-final battle bat-tle with the Murray Spartans, who went on to win the state men in the semi-finals. Throe members of the state championship Murray team won all-state recognition, with Spring-ville, Spring-ville, the other finalist, placing two men on the mythical team. Wasatch, Lincoln, Bingham, Union Un-ion and Millard high schools each had one player recognized. Gordon Slack, who played outstanding out-standing ball at end, both offensively, of-fensively, and defensively, dur- ing the year, was given second team recognition, the only other Cedar City player to get all-state recognition. Two other Region Six players won second team recognition, Elroy Stucki, Dixie, .and Dick Prince, Hurricane. I The Region Six champions from Cedar City placed three men on the all-region team, Herb Corry, guard, joining Frame and Slack on the team. Four other Redmen, Ken Perkins, end; Jay Perkins, tackle; Gayle Fife, quarterback, quar-terback, and Morris Slack, fullback, full-back, were placed on the all-region all-region team. I The Region Six team Included Eric Clark, Parowan, and Slack, Cedar City, ends; Elroy Stucki, Dixie, and David Blackner, Beaver, Bea-ver, tackles; John Imlay, Hurricane, Hur-ricane, and Corry, Cedar City, guards; Frame, center; Dee Wadsworth, Milford, Quarterback; Quarter-back; Rulon Ruesch and Prince, l Hurricane, halfbacks, and Lloyd Booth, Dixie, fullback. The second team included, Svapp, Kanab, and Perkins, Cedar Ce-dar City, ends; J. Perkins, Cedar City, and McAllister, Kanab, tackles; tac-kles; Rodney Bentley, Parowan and Gordon Eyre, Beaver, guards; Jenning, Hurricane, center; Fife, Cedar City, quarterback; Pearce Beaver, and Hafen, Dixie, halfbacks, half-backs, and Morris Slack, Cedar City, fullback. |
