Show Native of Cedar City To Appear Here in Song Recital i VIOLET M. STEVENS Violet M. Stevens, a native of Cedar City and the daughter of "Aunt Maude" and the late Daniel Dan-iel Matheson, will appear here in a song recital on Sunday, Nov. 28. The recital w ill" be held in the First Ward chapel at 8 p. m. Mrs. Stevens recently gave recitals re-citals in Salt Lake City, Layton and Provo, and will appear in Paro.van Friday, Nov 2G. She has also appeared on television and radio. ' Mrs. Stevens spent much of her early life in Cedar City and in Midvalley. She lived here during dur-ing part of her married life, and all of her five children were born here. Later she moved to Provo, where her husband, J. Er-vin Er-vin Stevens, a native of Parowan, was on the Provo police force for 10 years, and where Mrs. Stevens was active in musical circles. While in Provo she sang in the B Y U chorus and did solo work in the wards and clubs, and studied stud-ied with Mrs. Florence Madsen and others. She and her husband are now living in Salt Lake City where they are managing the Whitehall White-hall Hotel, and she is now devoting de-voting much time to her music. She was in the university chor-us, chor-us, conduced by the nationally famous Dr. Hoggard, during the past summmer, and also attend- ed the vocal workshop at the University of Utah. For the past six months she has been studying study-ing with Edna Crowther Ririe, who states that Mrs. Stevens is one of Utah's choice singers. Mrs. Stevens' program Sunday night should be enjoyed by children chil-dren as well as adults. She invites in-vites all who love music, particularly partic-ularly old friends and relatives, i to attend. |
