Show Cedar City Sailor Rests in Japan After Korea Duty George C. Gower, fireman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Gower of Cedar City, is spending spend-ing a well-earned vacation from the rigors of combat at the Camp Wood rest and recuperation center cen-ter in southern Japan. Gower is regularly attached to the supply ship USS Chara, which has been operating in the Korean area since the early days of the conflict. Camp Wood, an Army installation, installa-tion, is located near famous Mt. Aso, one of two remaining active ac-tive volcanos in Japan. Recreational Recrea-tional opportunities at the camp include golf, swimming, boating, bowling, dancing, tennis, skeet shooting and sight-seeing excursions, excur-sions, all designed to give the Navy man a distinee diversion from shipboard life. Before entering the service, Gower was a student at Cedar City high school. |
