Show Carillon at B.fi.C. Gets Devices For Sound Variety Branch Agricultural college's carillon has been wired so that any kind of recorded sound can be played through its amplifying amplify-ing system. Attachments have been made to permit half-hour-long broadcasts broad-casts of carillon music, timed sequences se-quences of simulated bell sounds, and broadcast of "live" music and voices. Recorded Christmas carols have been played on school days between be-tween classes and during noon hour. Loudspeakers located in the cupola of the Old Main building, broadcast the recordings record-ings as well as organ keyboard music throughout the campus and over a large area of Cedar City. Mrs. Virginia Larson has recorded electric chimes on tape. Simulated bell sounds ring at 7:30 and 7:50 a. m. each day, one an Angelus sequence of several tones and the other a tolling sequence. se-quence. Later a timing mechanism mechan-ism may be Installed to regulate ringing on each hour during the day. The Carillon was installed last year at Christmas time. Cost of installation was borne by Cedai City residents and other friends of BAC. |
