Show Double Vin Ends Practice Slate For Cedar Squad The Cedar City high school basketball team wound up its practice schedule during the week with two victories, and will now be idle until the opening of the Dixie district race on Friday, Jan. 4. The Redmen will play their first league game at Kanab and the following week end will go to St. George for a game with Dixie, Dix-ie, before playing their first game at home on Jan. 18. Their opponents oppon-ents in the first home game will be the Hurricane high school team, pre-season favorites to cop the district title. The Redmen played a return game with the Parowan Rams Friday night in the Parowan gym and won another close battle, bat-tle, 42 to 39. The two teams battled bat-tled on even terms in the first quarter, each scoring 11 points, but in the second period the Redmen jumped into seven point lead, 2G to 19, a spurt that proved extremely important, because they were outscored for the remainder re-mainder of the game. Leading the scorers for Cedar were J. N. Webster, Lamar Clark, Don Ray Melling and Gary' Mid-dleton, Mid-dleton, but the entire squad played well. John Benson, Parowan Paro-wan center was high point man with 13 points, in spite of the fact that he only played three quarters quar-ters of the game. Saturday night the Redmen entertained the Millard high team from Fillmore and won easily eas-ily by a score of 47 to 21. The Redmen jumped into an early lead and were never headed, completely dominating the game, particularly in the second half. Coach Alma Garrett used 12 men in the game, with Lamar Clark walking off with scoring honors with 16 points, while Gordon Sargent Sar-gent rang up 11.
