Show Community Church Gives Cantata, Musical Evening "The Hope of the World," a cantata by P. A. Schnecker, was the principal item on the program pro-gram of Christmas music, "An Evening of Music," presented Sunday night, Dec. 23, by members mem-bers of the Community Presby terian church. The church choir performed the cantata with Mrs. Blaine Johnson serving as guest accompanist. During the program Rev. William Wil-liam Burton, pastor of the church, dedicated a newly installed electric elec-tric organ. Members of the congregation con-gregation have concentrated on raising an organ fund for several sev-eral months. Rev. Burton and Howard Mace played a piano-organ prelude of familiar Christmas carols, after which the choir sang "Carol of the Bells," a Ukranian song. A vocal trio, comprised of Carolyn Car-olyn Endsley, Ann Parkinson and Oralie Stonehocker, sang "The Little Jesus Came to Town," while Christine Houchen sang "O Holy Night." "Hope of the World" was sung in four sections: Introductory chorus, "Ring Forth, Ye Bells"; Part I, "The Shepherds;" Part II, "The Wise Men,' and closing chorus, "HalT, Royal Babe!" |
