Show Parowan Resident Succumbs To Heart Ailment Thomas Benson Bennett, 73, well-known resident of Parowan, and prominent church and civic worker died Monday afternoon while walking down the street two blocks from his home. He had left home to go down town following his noon meal, and had reached the site of the new I'est home when he collapsed on the sidewalk apparently from a heart ailment. Mr. Bennett was a native of Parowan and engaged in various activities during his lifetime. He served as Parowan city marshal for a number of years and for 'JO years was cheesemaker at the Southern I'tah Dairy company. He also engaged in the farming business for some time. A member of the L D S church he had served in church auxiliary aux-iliary organizations and was a member of the High Priests quorum quo-rum of the Parowan Stake at the time of his death. He was bom Oct. 2t. 1S7D, a son of James J. and Elizabeth Benson Bennett. He married Jane Wardell in Parowan on Oct. 15, 1102 and the marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS temple. She died May 20, littti. and on May 1, 1937 he married Eva Whitney Richards of this city who survives him along with the following children: Three sons, J. Earl Bennett, Lakeview, Ore.: Wardell Bennett, Redding, Calif.; Vivian Bennett, Brookings, Ore., two daughters, Mrs. Vanda B. Romnev, Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. Enid B. Mitchell, Parowan. Also surviving are a stepson, Merton Richards of El Monte, Calif,; 13 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, in the Parowan Third ward chapel under the direction di-rection of Bishop Karl Mitchell. |
