Show Power Co. Awards Service Pins in Banquet Ceremonies An awards banquet was held by the Southern Utah Power Company of Cedar City to honor employees of the company for service of 10 or more years. The banquet was held at El Es-calante Es-calante hotel ballroom Saturday, July 11. Honored guest of the evening was Hugh H. Kearns who has devoted over 43 years of his life to the electric utility business bus-iness and who has retired after 31 years of service with the local power companly. Mr. Kearns' electrical experience experi-ence has been divided between the Telluride Power Co., 12 years, and then the Dixie Power Co., which is now the Southern Utah Power- Co. He was transmission line chief for the company. He and Mrs. Kearns are moving to Atvvater, Calif., where they will make their home. The Power company employees were welcomed by Warren H. Bulloch, president, and Lehi M. Jones, a director, was in attendance. attend-ance. Ralph R. Thomas, vice president and general manager acted as master of ceremonies for the evening. Topping the awards list were the recipients of 30-year gold pins. Those receiving 30-year pins were Vaughn Jones, " hydro hy-dro superintendent from Veyo; Inez Cox, company secretary and office manager, and Mr. Kearns. Twenty-five year pins were given gi-ven to Fred Brook, hydro station operator, LaVerkin, and Ray Melling, distribution chief, Cedar City. George Grimshaw, general superintendent, Cedar City, was the recipient of a 20-year pin at the impressive ceremonies. Fifteen year pins were awarded award-ed to Elgin Morris, Kanab division divi-sion superintendent; Fred Slack, Cedar division superintendent, and to Guernsey Brown, diesel operator at Kanab. . Ten year pins were awarded to Ralph Jones, steam plant superintendent super-intendent of Cedar City; Osborn Winsvold, diesel plant superintendent, superin-tendent, Cedar City; Acil Jones, Hurricane division superintendent; superinten-dent; Edwin "Ted" Cox, purchasing purchas-ing agent, Cedar City; Leo "Dick" Bowler, hydro operator of Gun-lock, Gun-lock, and Oren Heyworth, hydro waterway patrolman of LaVerkin.
