Show School Board Accepts, Studies Bids Bids were accepted by the Iron County School Board Monday for the installation of a sprinkling system at the East elementary school in Cedar City, and for a two-year audit of the school district books. However, bids on the replacing of the stairways in the Parowan elementary school building, leading to the auditorium, auditor-ium, were not accepted pending further study. Low bidder for the installation of a metal sprinkling system at the Cedar City East elementary school was the Cedar Lumber anil Hardware company, and a contract lias been awarded to the company for the installation. Only one other bid, by a Salt Lake City firm, was reeeivPil and it was considerably higher than the bid of the local company. The contiact is for $10.(503.75. The Southern Utah Accounting Service, composed of L. A. Whet-the Whet-the only bidder for the biennial ten and E. W. Southwiek, was audit of the school district financial fi-nancial records. The bid was for rs.")25. The audit will start sometime some-time ii August, it is understood. under-stood. The board is studying the problems that have developed in the plan to replace the stairways in the Parowan elementary school, i;nd because of this no action was taken on the bids for this project. The Board, in its meeting Monday, Mon-day, approved the installation of a new electronic bell and clock system at the Parowan high and elementary schools. The Board approved calling for bids on insuring the school district buses and trucks. Bids will be accepted until Thursday, Aug. G. Quotations for class room furniture for two new classrooms in the Parowan high school provided pro-vided through the remadeling of the building were discussed. No action was taken by the Board with regard to submitting contracts to prospective teachers teach-ers in the district. All teachers who will receive contracts have been contacted, but the contracts have not been mailed pending state-wide action on tlte muddled teacher pay schedule. |
