Show Cause of Death: Radiation Or Malnutrition? Although the official report on the cause of death of many sheep grazing west of Caliente, during the atomic bomb experiments experi-ments this spring has not yet been issued, Dr. George A. Spend-love, Spend-love, Utah health commissioner, has stated that radiation was definitely present among the sheep. Dr. Spendlove made the statement state-ment refuting a recent statement by a University of Utah professor profes-sor that the death of the sheep was the result of malnutrition. "Malnutrition was present, but so was radiation," Dr. Spendlove Spend-love said. "Whether or not the radiation was sufficient to cause the symptoms remains to be determined," de-termined," he said. Large numbers of sheep from four or five Cedar City herds that were grazing on range adjacent to the proving grounds were lost, and extensive research has been under way by radiologists, physicists, veterinarians, and other technicians, since the occurence. |
