Show Final Hearing Set For Proposed Budget Approval A public hearing has been called by the Parowan City Council Coun-cil for Monday noon, Dec. 28 to take final action on the city's proposed budget of expenditures for 1954, which tentatively calls for 593,040.00. Major items contained in the proposed budget are as follows: interest and principal payments on nydro-eiectric bonds outstanding, outstand-ing, $21,855; labor at hydro-electric plant $11,000; supplies for the plant, $6700; H. E. plant improvements im-provements and depreciation, $4,-800; $4,-800; public safety, $5,000; streets and sidewalks, $5,000; purchase of standby power from the Southern South-ern Utah Power Co., $6,000; special spe-cial load projects, $4,600; officers' offic-ers' salaries $3,700; cemetery upkeep, up-keep, $3,000; reservoir, $3,000; supplies and labor on water sys-item, sys-item, $3,000; waterworks bond and j interest payments, $2,016.; recreation recrea-tion center. $1,200. Minor items calling for smaller amounts are such things as liability lia-bility and industrial insurance, bond premiums, assessing and collecting taxes, city park, public pub-lic health expense, collection of fees and rentals, auditing, library, lib-rary, janitor service and upkeep on city buildings, fire department, depart-ment, office supplies and printing, print-ing, social security payments and maintenance of city irrigation system. Estimated receipts to cover the above expenses will come mainly from revenue from the hydroelectric hydro-electric plant, with this utility raising $60,000 of the necessary money to operate city affairs. Geneial taxes will bring In $12,-000, $12,-000, revenue from the water system sys-tem will be $8,500, special road fund, $4,600, state liquor funds, $2,100; cemetery fees anr assessments, assess-ments, $1,780; rentals on city building $1,980, licenses, $950; fines, forfeitures and dog taxes, $430, end miscellaneous, $700. |
