Show City Councilmen Burn Midnight Oil The final regular session of the Cedar City Council for 1953 was held at the city and county building last Thursday evening and an agenda was scheduled that ran the policy meeting council into the wee hours of the morning. Number one object was the second reading of the budget which was never approved at the meeting because of questions and items that arose. As a result a special meeting for the second reading was held Tuesday evening, eve-ning, Doc. 22 at 7:30. r. .1... . .t.rt . . iuiin; nil.- i-uui.Ntr ui linj tvv- r.ing, outside of the budget dispute dis-pute which evolved over the bridge to be erected over Coal Creek to the recreation area, suggested sug-gested investigations were approved ap-proved for abandoned ice box safety and for parking and driving driv-ing on Hoover Avenue. In regard to the Ice box measure, mea-sure, as made by City Manager F. E. McNutt, it was suggested that an ordinance be adopted forcing resident and merchants to, by either eliminating the lock or sealing the box, make them safe as a possible hazard to children chil-dren who may play around them. The suggestion was approved by the council and City Attorney Patrick II. Fenton was ordered to draft an ordinance for future fu-ture approval by the council. A suggestion was made at the council meeting that parking on Hoover Avenue, 150 North Main, be closed. However, with the critical cri-tical parking situation in Cedar City it was deemed advisable to investigate the possible effect of the elimination of parking or possibly to restrict traffic to oneway one-way passage. Mr. McNutt also suggested that a similar plan could possibly be incorporated at Lincoln Avenue which passes by the city and county building. |
