Show . .rrjJi Broncos Meet Conquering Fullerton Quintet for Tourney Championship The College of Southern Utah Broncos, hosts for the fourth annual an-nual Bionco Invitational basketball basket-ball touinament, will meet Ful-1 lerton Junior College of California Califor-nia tonight (Wednesday), for the tournnment championship. The championship game, which amounts to a return battle between be-tween the two teams since they clashed in the opening night, is perhaps the Jinest game of the tourney. Tonight's engagement will be the ihiid battle of the season for the two teams, with the visitors vis-itors having trimmed the Bron- cos In both previous encounters. Fullerton eliminated the Broncos from the Chaffey tournament in California in the second round of play, arid then went on to win the Chaitey championship. They won the game in California Cali-fornia by a good margin but were hard pressed and needed some sensational shooting by Rogers, Ro-gers, Stcrkel and Hall to win by a S'o;c of 64 to 58. In that game the Broncos were trailing by only two points, 58 to 60 with two minutes to go, but the stalling Calfoinians were fouled twice and increased the margin by four more roints.. The games during the first two nights ol the meet have been exceptionally ex-ceptionally close and interesting, hut the crowds have been disappointing. disap-pointing. Unless a large crowd shews up tonight, large enough to change the tournament into a financial success the annual affair will probably be discontinued discontin-ued after tonight's games. Under a pre-tourney arrangement arrange-ment College of Southern Utah went into the championship bracket brac-ket in spite of the Bronco's defeat de-feat at the hands of Fullerton. The Broncos then took the measure mea-sure of San Bernardino Valley Jaycees, 63 to 57, to gain another shot at the highly rated Fur-lerton Fur-lerton squad. The game between the Broncos and the Indians was close thioughout, but Coach Pet-ty's Pet-ty's Broiicos managed to hold onto on-to a slight advantage during most of the game. Fullerton gained a berth in the championship champion-ship game by taking the measure mea-sure of the Ricks Vikings from Rexbeig, Idaho, by a score of 71 to 54. Tne game was close until the final minutes, when the Ricks Mar, Hopkins, fouled out, and Fullerton quickly pulled away. Ricks had defeated the Dixie Rebels, 76 to 72 in the opening round, with Hopkins leading the attack with 2G points, and some brilliant play making. San Bernardino Ber-nardino won its opening game, trimming Westminster, 54 to 49, in an exciting battle. The lead ; changed hands frequently, but 1 the California team pulled away in the final minutes to stay in the championship bracket. In the consolation bracket of the second round Westminslor edged out the Dixie Rebels, 75 t.i 74. Ray Beuhler, Parson Par-son cenui, tied the tournamei ' scoring stand, a major contribution contribu-tion to the Parson victory. Miles rang up 30 points in the game "n 10 field goals and 10 out of 15 foul tries. The old mark was 27 points, held jointiy bv Linie Hall of Ventura, Max Bond and Teddy Smith of the Broncos. Hall set his mark in the first tournament, with Bond tying ty-ing it the next year, and Smith ringing up the same number in a game last year. Beuhler got U field goals and three foul shots to tie the lecord.
