Show Local Hoop Team Wins Beith in AU-Chuich Tourney Two M-Men basketball teams from Southern Utah will be represented rep-resented in the All-Church tournament tour-nament scheduled for March 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Salt Lake City. Representing this part of the state will be the team from the Cedar L D S Institute and the team from Orclerville. Orderville finished second in the division play-off in Beaver last week, but was the top ward team, and so enters the tournament tourna-ment directly. The Institute team, which is composed of BAC students, and won the division play-off in Beaver, will also en ter the tournament, since there are no other Institute teams in the state which have a similar record and would warrant a playoff play-off with the local five. The Institute team took the division di-vision title last week by stopping the Orderville team 38-36. The Institute In-stitute team met and defeated St. George 46-35 and Boulder City, Nevada 34-26 in the quarter and semi-finals, and Orderville in the finals. Sixteen teams will meet for the finals of the All-church tournament in Salt Lake City. The first two days of play will be held in the Deseret gym, with the final two rounds scheduled for the spacious University of Utah fieldhouse. When all of the preliminary tournaments are ended, teams from Arizona, California, Cali-fornia, and the Pacific northwest or Canada are expected to enter the predominantly Utah tourney for the All-Church meet. |
