Show Last Rites Held For Lifelong Cedar City Resident Funeral services were held In the Second ward chapel Saturday Satur-day afternoon for Richard Henry Hen-ry Palmer, 85, life-time resident of Cedar City who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. La-mont La-mont Benson, Thursday afternoon after-noon of ailments incident to age. The services were conducted by Bishop Verne Frame of the College Col-lege ward. Organ music was pro-I pro-I vided by Mrs. Bernlla Jones, and the musical program included a song. "Oh My Father", by a male quartet composed of Reed Roberts, Rob-erts, Herschel Neeley, Howard Wood and Gene Palmer, accompanied accom-panied by Reed Berrett; a vocal vo-cal duet, "Come Unto Me", by Jim Urie and Lorin Miles, ac-companied ac-companied by Mrs. Beth Leigh, and a duet, "Going Home", by Genevieve and Blanche Lamb of Toquerville. Speakers at the services were Randall Lunt, Samuel F. Leigh and Miss Blanche Lamb, with remarks being given by Bishop Frame. Invocation was by Edward Ed-ward Parry, benediction by Par- Cnn IT WohctAP Ortrt iA i sn 1 1 srt of th grave by Elwood Corry. Mr. Palmer was born in Cedar City on August 21, 1864, a son of Richard and Johanna Reese Palmer, southern Utah pioneers. He married Mary Joyce Chatter-ley Chatter-ley in the Manti Temple in 1893. He was prominent in many ac-tivities, ac-tivities, during his early life, hav-i hav-i ing operated a livery stable business bus-iness at the famed silver reef mines, and was a contractor for hauling freight from Milford to Silver Reef, and between Cortez and Durango, Colorado. He also engaged in livestock raising for a number of years. Always active in political affairs af-fairs during his earlier years, he was one of the delegates to the convention In Salt Lake City to select candidates for the first state officers. He is survived by two daughters, daugh-ters, Zoella P, Benson and Gladys Palmer, Cedar City; three grandchildren; grand-children; two brothers, William R. Palmer and Jethro Palmer, Cedar Ce-dar City, and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Macfarlane, Salt Lake City, Utah. I - |
