Show St. George Clinches District 7 Legion Hoop Crown The St. George American Legion Le-gion basketball team clinched the District 7 championship here Monday night by defeating the Cedar City Legion five, 43-37. In winning Monday night's game, the Dixie players finished the season with 5 wins and 1 loss. Cedar City plays the final league game tonight, meeting the Orderville team at Orderville. If Cedar should win, she will have three wins and three losses to tie with Enterprise for second place honors in league play. In the event of a tie for second sec-ond place, Cedar and Enterprise will have to have a playoff to determine which team will represent repre-sent District 7 with St. George in the State tournament. Sixteen teams representing eight dislricts in the state will ho at Ct i- ui .j.. uroijc Ml utl'Hie a state champion on March 9 10 and 11. St. George Post No. 90, last year's titleholder and host team' for this year's tourney, is estab-1 lished as a definite pre-tourna-ment favorite. All contests will be in the Dixie college gymnas ium. The opening game is set for Thursday, March 9. at 1:30 p. m. Eight contests will be played on Thursday and on Friday, with six championship and consola. (ion events scheduled for Saturday. Satur-day. March 11. The final championship cham-pionship game will start at 9:30 p. m. Season tickets admitting bearer bear-er to all 22 tournament games are available for $1.50. General admission ducats are $1 afternoons, after-noons, $1.25 evenings, final night 51.50. Student ticket charge is 50 cents afternoons, 73 cents evenings, eve-nings, final night $1.00. I |
