Show Bronco Court Men Score Twin Victories Against Dixie Flyers, 77-66 and 86-64 Coach Ray Lindquist's Branch Agricultural college basketball team soundly trounced the Flyers Fly-ers from Dixie college in two games last week end to take a firm grip on second place in the championship race, and also hold onto a chance to at least a tie for first place. The Broncos won both encounters encoun-ters against their traditional rivals ri-vals in most convincing fashion, winning by a 77 to 66 margin in a game at St. George Friday night and trimming the Flyers on the local floor Saturday night by a score of 8G to 64. Although the Flyers played good ball and fought gamely in the face of impending im-pending defeat in each game, the high flying Broncos were in complete com-plete control through most of both games. In the first game the BAC team dominated play throughout, with the exception of one brief, desperate des-perate rally in the second period. per-iod. The Broncos held a 37 to 29 halftime lead and after the Fly ers had rallied in the second half they pulled quickly away again. Saturday night tne visitors stayed in the game for the first half, mostly because of some sensational sen-sational long range shooting and remarkable success at the foul line. As the second half opened, however, Coach Lindquist's charges quickly removed any doubt as to the outcome. The much improved Bronco squad gained their victories through excellent all-round team play. They displayed a powerful defense irj both games, and led by lanky Max Bond at center, they uncorked an amazing scoring scor-ing attack. Bond rang up 21 nnintc In thp first camp and thn r " ----- , came back for 32 points in the second game, and this inspite of the fact that he spent at least one-fourth of each game sitting on the bench. While BAC was winning two the Snow Badgers split a two-game two-game series with Westminster, winning 68 to 57 the first night and dropping the second encounter encoun-ter by a score of 57 to 47. This assures BAC of at least a tie for second place. If the Broncos can win one of its two remaining games with Westminster they can finish at least second, even if Snow is able to defeat Carbon in both of its remaining games. Should BAC tip Westminster twice, and either Dixie or Snow could tip the league leading Carbon Car-bon Eagles in a couple of encounters en-counters the Broncos would tie for first.
