Show Cedar Guard Team Places in State Tournament Members of the Cedar City Na-tional Na-tional Guard basketball team, representing the 213th Field Ar-1 tillery Battalion, returned to Ce-1 dar by plane Sunday, after tak- j ing third place honors in the Guard State Tournament held Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Logan. The local team defeated Murray Mur-ray in the semi-finals Saturday night, 36 to 22 to place third in the tournament. In the finals Saturday night, a strong Logan quintet stopped Springville, 52 to 46, to win the championship. Boyd Holyoak, a member of the Cedar team, was named to the all-state Guard team at the close of the tourney. Cedar opened up the competition competi-tion Thursday jiight by scoring an easy victory over Spanish Fork. 50 to 25. Friday night, the local outfit couldn't make the ball stay in the basket and bowed bow-ed down to the second -place Springville team, IS to 35. Those who made the trip by air from Cedar City were: Don Nelson, player-manager; Jay Terry, Ter-ry, Boyd Holyoak. Ronald T. Gale, Lowell Sherratt, LaVon Urie. Earl Gillies.
