Show Services Held For Hugh E. Matheson In Parowan Today Funeral services are being held hi the Parowan East ward chapel this afternoon for Hugh Edward Mutheson, 77, who died Monday evening ev-ening following a lingering illness. Burial will be In the Parowan Cl'y cemetery. Mr. Matheson had suffered from stomach trouble for many years and several years ago he was critically crit-ically Injured In a pedestrlan-auto mobile accident on Main street In Cedar City, and although tie had been back 'at his work for some time, he never really regained his health since the accident. A stone and brick mason by trade Mr. Matheson had spent his entire life In the building business and perhaps had worked In the erection of more houses in Cedar City and southern Utah than any other Individual. In-dividual. He worked for a number of years for the Utah Parks company com-pany on the lodging facilities In Zlon, Bryce and Orand Canyon National Na-tional Parks. He was married In Parowan August Aug-ust 1, 1870, a son of Alexander and Lydla Evans Matheson, Iron county pioneers. He married Lavina Gurr, of Parowan In 1894. Following her death he married Mrs. Nellie Green also of that place. Surviving are his son Edward a. Matheson of Cedar City, a daughter Alice Matheson of Parowan, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Daniel and Owen Matheson,, Mathe-son,, Cedar City; Lorenzo Matheson, Cedar Valley, and William Matheson, Mathe-son, Duncan, Arizona. |
