Show District No. 5 To Select School Board Member A new member of the Board of Education of the Iron County School District will be elected on Wednesday, Wednes-day, December 5, announces Superintendent Super-intendent Ianthus Wright, who points out that the term of Wells A. Williams will expire at the end of the year, and that because of recent redisricting of the county a new member must be elected. Each member of the Board must reside In the District which he represents, rep-resents, and under the new division Mr. Williams now resides in the "outlying" district and the new director di-rector must come from District No. 5, which includes the Northwest portion of Cedar City and Cedar Valley. The district In which Mr. Williams, Wil-liams, a resident of Kanarra, resides re-sides now Includes Paragonah, Summit, Sum-mit, Enoch, Lund, Modena, Beryl, Newcastle, and Kanarra, and all territory outside of Parowan and the Parowan fields area, and Cedar City and the Cedar Valley area. Samuel Abbott of Paragonah, president pres-ident of the Board, will continue to represent that district. Each Board member is elected for a five year term, with one new director elected each year. Therefore There-fore the member to be named from District No. 5, will serve for five years, with representatives of the other districts reelected or replaced replac-ed In the meantime. District No. 5 Includes roughly the Northwest corner of Cedar City and Cedar Valley, but actually covers cov-ers considerable territory where there are few residents. It Includes all that area North of Center street In Cedar City and West of Main street and highway 91 to the Eastern East-ern edge of the Beryl farming area, and is bounded roughly as follows: Beginning at the Post Office in Cedar City, and running north along highway 91 to the Enoch road Junction, then continuing north along the west side of Enoch to the Parowan Gap road, then West along that road to Its approximate Junction with the Cedar Lund highway, high-way, then South along the East side of the Beryl Farming area to the Cedar-Modena road, then East along that highway to the Cedar City Limits, then South to Center street and East along Center street to the Post Office. The County provides a list of voters for each district when the elections are held and any resident resi-dent near the boundary line des crlbed should check this list to see in which district he resides and should vote. Candadltes for election to the board of Education must be filed at least fifteen days before the election date, or by November 17th. Any Individual may file his own candidacy, or any five voters of the district may file for any candidate, can-didate, filings must be made with the Clerk of the Board of Education Educa-tion at the Board offices In the elementary school building In Cedar Ce-dar City. |
