Show Parowan Returns Republicans To Power On Tuesday Parowan. usually considered a Democratic stronghold, elected a complete Republican ticket in the Municipal election Tuesday, with the exception of the long-term councilman. E. Ray Lyman was re elected Mayor for another two-year term. He defeated Scott Mitchell. Democrat Dem-ocrat by a vote of 312 to 246. R. Taylor Miller was the only Democratic winning a position In the city administration, defeating Joseph S. Holyoak, Republcan, for the position of four year councilman, council-man, by a vote of 299 to 256. Results of the balloting for two-year two-year councilmen were as follows: Claude Burton, (R) 331; Howard Joseph (R) 355; Edgar Benson (R) 306; Marvin Graff (D) 237; Benson Ben-son Haycock (D) 235, and John H. Pendleton (D) 209. Mrs. Verda Adams (R) was elected elect-ed Recorder, defeating Mary OL Topham (D) by a vote of 347 to 205. For Treasurer John W. Bentley (R) received 296 votes 00 258 for Oeorgia J. Meeks'(D). |
