Show Blaine Tueller To Attend Salt Lake Rotary Conference Blaine Tueller, son of County Agent Ag-ent and Mrs. Lamont E. Tueller, an outstanding student of the Cedai high school, will be a guest of the Salt Lake Rotary club at a three-day three-day Youth Conference In Salt Lake City November 8 to 11 and will become be-come eligible to compete for an $1800 Rotary club four-year college col-lege scholarship, Dr. Adams S. Ben-nlon, Ben-nlon, president of the Salt Lake Rotary club announces. Blaine was selected for the honor hon-or by a Joint faculty-student committee com-mittee on the basis of character, scholarship and leadership. Seven of the outstanding students In the Cedar school were selected, and from this group Tueller was chosen bj vote to be the local representative. One outstanding boy from each of the seventy-five high schools in the state will attend the conference and compete for the scholarship. During the three-day conference titled "Youth races Life," the selected se-lected students will be guests of the University of Utah at the Utah-Colorado Utah-Colorado Aggie football game on Saturday, November 8. Sunday eacn boy will attend the church of his choice; Monday they will visit institutions in-stitutions and professional offices to observe first hand the operations of business toward which represesn-tatlves represesn-tatlves are most inclined in their pursuit of a career. An evening conference con-ference will also be held Monday. Tuesday they will attend a regular reg-ular Salt Lake Rotary club luncheon. lunch-eon. A panel discussion Is planned to bring out youth's point of view as they face today's problems. While in Salt Lake City each boy will be the house guest of a member mem-ber of the Salt Lake Rotary club. Upon his return home, each student stu-dent will report his experiences at the conference to his fellow students stu-dents In his local high school, and each representative will then bt eligible to participate In an essay contest on the subject: "What It Means to Be An American." To the winning contestant will be awarded a 4-year college scholarship, scholar-ship, carrying $450 a year $50 fox each of the nine months of tht college calendar a total for tht four years of $1,800. The contest will close April 1 1948 and the winner will be announced an-nounced at the time of his commencement com-mencement exercises. |
