Show Australian Singers To Appear On First Local Music Arts Program To Sing Here -r HwLp ' " -1 lf( if fSt ' X ; 1 O' J - VICTORIA ANDERSON VIOLA MORRIS Victoria Anderson and Viola Morris, Mor-ris, gifted Australian Singers, appear ap-pear as the first number on the 1947-48 Music Arts Series, Thursday Thurs-day evening, Novembr 13 at the Public School Auditorium. A Matinee Mati-nee will be presented at 2:30 p. m. for the Cedar High School and Junior High School students, Parowan Par-owan High School and Branch Agricultural Ag-ricultural College students. Both Miss Anderson and Miss Morris were friends In Melbourne, Australia and both went to London tostudy with the eminent teacher and coach, Harry Plunket Greene. After eight years of study with Mr. Greene, the English Duo was formed form-ed and they met with immediate success. Their fame reached back to Australia and In 1937 they were engaged for a Broadcast and Concert Con-cert tour of their native land by the Australian Broadcasting Company. In 1938 they were engaged for a second tour. In 1939 they toured the Dutch East Indies, New Zealand and Hawaii They made their Am erican debut in Town Hall, New York City In 1940. They have toured tour-ed the United States and Canada several times, appearing in the chief tlcular favorites with colleges and music centers and ranking as par-universities. par-universities. In addition to their singing, Miss Anderson and Miss Morris have con ducted research In early duo music In libraries and museums all over the world. Although their vast collection col-lection of program numbers includes music from every land and In every language, they give particular stress to songs of Elizabethan England. Recently they have published a book of their song discoveries and have prepared an album of Victor records. rec-ords.
