In this town of 1,800 people 11 miles west of Grand Junction there are at least 22 women who own their own businesses, are In joint ownership with their husbands in business ventures, or manage businesses. Three women operate beauty shops; 17 help their husbands In operation of business establishments ranging from grocery stores to auto repair shops; one owns and runs a drug store, another a combined auto accessory, hardware and dry goods store, and another is manager of the local hospital.
