Show Police Work Aided By New Radio Equipment Crime prevention, detection and apprehension in San Juan County has taken a great progressive step in the recent acquisition of short wave police radio equipment. A 250 watt base station has been installed In the San Juan county courthouse in Montlcello, with a 60 foot tower on top of the building. The police building In Blandlng, 32 miles south of Montlcello, is equip, ped with a 60 watt base station and a 32 foot tower, for the use of the county deputy there. The sheriff's car has been equipped with a 60 watt mobile unit, enabling him to keep In constant touch with other civil authorities. In November 1954, the Federal Communications Commission issued a license and call numbers to San Juan county officials. Special permission was also received to keep In short wave contact with law enforcement agencies in the state of Colorado.
