Show Norwood Has Its U-Boom Troubles NORWOOD Not so long ago Norwood was a quiet farming and lumbering community. Now it is hustling, bustling town which is having U-boom difficulties. There are new people, money and activity. Norwood did very well as a center for a thriving sheep and cattle business and eight busy lumber mills. But to add to this two enormous uranium ore processing mills doing milions of dollars worth of milling annually only a short drive away, and it is easy to understand what Is happening here. 1 Too, the Atomic Energy Commission is considering building a third processing plant nearby. Prospectors are a common sight n the streets as glowing reports flow in about successful claims and producing uranium mines In "Gyp" Valley and Bull Canon near here. A much quieter but Just as Important development is the presence of oil men in the community. Seismograph crews are working . throughout the region.. Several large outfits are expected to test every section of the country around Norwood next summer. |
