Show Moab Gets New Elementary School According to Mrs. Helen M. Knight, Grand county superintendent of schools, a few elementary school Is being erected at Moab, and will cost $534,625. The school will be located In the west part of town on land secured from a uranium prospector. The building will have 15 classrooms, being segment, ed around a court yard. Porch corridors will face the court, Mrs. Knight said, and there will be a gymnasium and auditorium combined. The new school will have a kitchen large enough and equipped to prepare meals for as many as 400 children. Reason for the new construction can be found in enrollment figures. Over 164 new students have been enrolled since last year and they still are coming, Mrs. Knight said. Classes have to be divided, and there now are three first grades, four second grades and two sections in all others. Second grades are operating In shifts. There are more grade school teachers in Moab this year than there were in the whole district in 1950. |
