Show New Courthouse Addition Proposed at Monticello San Juan county' courthouse will soon undergo remodeling to add 6.348 square feet of floor space, doubling the present available apace. The addition will be made to the east side of the present courthouse, and will be two stories high, containing new offices on the first floor and second floor, plus a new county Jail and law enforcement! offices on the second floor, The new Jail will have three completely separate custodial sections, one for Juveniles, a modern steel cell block for adult males, and adequate quarters for female prisoners. When the new structure is completed, present serious shortage of ffice space will have ended. With Increased activity of mining in San Juan County, county business has increased until every available nook and corner of the present courthouse at Monticello is being used for office space. Desks are even located in the entrance lobby. According to the Board of County Commissioners, neither the tax levy nor the bonded indebtedness of the county will be increased by J the building program. Expense of1 its construction will be paid from Increased receipts from county taxes which previously had not been anticipated. Fetzer and Fetzer of Salt Lake City are architects of the proposed new wing, which will as nearly as possible match features in the present structure. |
