The contest is strictly for amateur photographers. e 2. or color pictures taken after July 1, 1983, are Black-and-whit- eligible. 3. Snapshots may be taken with any make of camera, or any brand of film. No art work or retouching is permitted on negatives or prints no composite pictures, multiple exposures, or multiple printing. 4. Any number of pictures may be entered. Contestant's name, address must be written clearly, in ink, on the back of each print or transparency mount. Mail entries to the Snapshot Contest, co The Salt Lake Trib- une, P.O. Box 867, Salt Lake City Utah, 84110. 5. No pictures will be returned. Contestants must be able to furnish the original negative if requested by the Contest Editor. (This requirement does not apply to color trans- parencies or instant prints.) The sponsors assume no responsibility for negatives or prints. 6. Contestants are permitted to submit pictures to only one newspaper participating in the Kodak International Newspaper Snapshot Awards 7. To be eligible for a local grand prize, a contestant must sign a statement that the picture, or another closely similar picture of the same subject or situation, has not, and will not be entered by him in any contest and will not be offered for publication. (Statements must only be submitted by weekly winners.) 8. IMPORTANT: Be sure you know the names and addresses of any recognizable persons appearing in your picture. This is necessary because, in order for it to be entered in the international judging, you must be able to get the written consent of such person or persons to permit use of the picture for purpose of illustration, advertising, or publication in any manner. THE FIFTH WEEK of The Salt SumLake Tribunes annual mertime Snapshot contest produced over 250 entries and four photographs. This weeks winners will receive $10 and their photographs will be examined during the final judging at the end of the summer when four color and two photographs are chosen as Jinalists in The Tribunes contest. These winners will receive a $25 bonus and their photographs will be sent to Rochester, N.Y., to compete with winners from other newspapers in the United States, Canada and Mexico for a shot at the $55,000 grand prize total offered by Kodak International Newspaper Snapshot Awards black-and-whi- te prize-winni- THERE ARE TWO each of the othone for one for color. First place awards promise a trip for two to Europe, plus $500 spending money or $5,000 in cash. Second place award winners receive a trip for two to Mexico plus $250 in spending monor $3,000 in cash. Third place ey winners will enjoy a Caribbean trip for two, with $100 spending money or $1,500 in cash. h Even if you dont hit the jackpot there are still other cash awards. If the judges rank your entry just below that group, you have a chance of one of 10 $500 Honor Awards. The picture that most impresses the majority of the expert er photographic judging team, - cial Merit Awards of $100 are given. So, break out your camera or send in your favorite photographs taken since July 1, 1983 and enter them in The Tribunes contest. Winners will be announced for five more weeks'. Because of deadlines, the last day we can accept entries for the 10th and final week of the contest is Wednesday, Aug. 8. Wednesday is the weekly cut-oday for the contest, so if your photographs arrive later than that day, they will simply be entered in the following weeks contest.
