Civil War troops stage 12th annual battle The 12th annual of the Civil War Battle of Fort Stevens will be staged at Fort Ward Museum and Park in Alexandria, Virginia, on Sunday, July 15. Hundreds of Civil War soldiers from recreated military units and their families will present a weekend of free living history. The activities will include a fashion promenade of Civil War-er- a clothing, band concerts, drills and weapons demonstrations. The action will be capped by the battle narrated by professional military historian Kim Holien 15 at 3 ton to be attacked by Confederate forces. It was one of 68 forts, including Fort Ward, built to protect Washington, DC. from Confederate invasion. The Battle of Fort Stevens is staged in Alexandria each year because Fort Ward is the only remaining fort in the Defenses of Washington to be reconstructed, complete with a museum to offer continuing July pm The battle will be fought by various authentically equipped Civil War units, including infantry, artillery and cavalry.
