Show The Park Record D Section B Thursday, September 1 5, 1 994 Page B1 5 Middle Eastern music will be featured aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaraaraaaaaaaaa a New Summer B Menu i at 5 9 mm The Middle Eastern musical group, Kairo by Night, will open the 1994-95 Westminster Concert Series in the Jewett Center (1250 East 1700 South) at Westminster College on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend at no charge. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, "Combining traditional Middle- Eastern folk tunes with original compositions, mixing modern and ancient instruments, and utilizing backgrounds in the classics, jazz, and Middle-Eastern studies, Kairo By Night produces an experience in music and dance which is both exciting and intriguing." The concert program includes "Nazira," "Ah Ya Zain," "Zarefa' "Shani Meara Nejat," and more. Kairo By Night was formally organized in 1986 after having performed in the Salt Lake area for many years as the musical accompaniment for the Aziz Dance Company. The musicians are: Dave Weisenberg (synthesizer, composer, arranger); Paul Grubaugh (saaz, oud, sound technician); Lauren Flygare (violin); Nazera Sheya (flute, piccolo); Nora Godin (string bass); Brett "Angus" Bowen (percussion); Howard "Graeleaf" Clough (percussion); Vashti Zadah (dance, percussion); Zahirah (dance, percussion); and Gig Grubaugh (dance, percussion). The Rolling Stones come to Rice Stadium Oct. 23 The Rolling Stones will play Rice Stadium in Salt Lake City, on Sunday, October 23, at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. day of show. Reserved seat tickets will go on sale this Saturday, September 17th at 7 a.m. at 'SmithsTix Outlets and the Rice Stadium Box Office. Ticket prices are $55.00 and $30.00. To charge by phone call 467-TIXX, 1-800-888-TIXX. There is a lit of twelve (12) tickets per person. The ticket outlets will be accepting cash only. Wristbands for the on sale line up were available on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept 13 and 14. The show is predicted to be a sellout Touring in support of the Virgin Records debut Voodoo Lounge, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ron Wood will play the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, the Far East and Japan in a tour that began Aug. 1 with critically acclaimed sold-out shows in Washington D.C. For over six million fans worldwide who thrilled to the Steel Wheels tour, set designers Mark Fisher and Jonathan Park have created the next milestone in daring, outrageous stadium spectacle with The Rolling Stones' Voodoo Lounge. Fisher, who also designed the sets for Zoo TV for U2, Steel Wheels and Pink Floyd's 1994 tour, has constructed a stage made of enough steel to build 80 cars and enough aluminum to manufacture 10,000 beverage cans. The Prism sound system has over 310 cabinets and monitors requiring 1.5 million watts of power, and the tour carries two diesel generators, capable of generating almost four million watts of power, as well as eight miles of sound and light cable. The world's biggest mobil Jumbotron screen will provide unprecedented video action.
