Show The Park Record D Section A Thursday, September 1 5, 1 994 OPage A7- Park Record's November Primer Continued from A6 Community service experience: Many boards, commissions, task forces, etc., including issues related to recycling, trails, animal adoption, arts and public lands. Most recently the steering committee of The Park City Housing Task Force, and also the Open Space Task Force of the Parks and Recreation board. Platform: All the candidates will talk about "growth management." But we have 9,500 approved units in the Snyderville Basin. No one knows how much water we really have. A school district that's doubled in the last five years, and not a park or recreation facility in the whole basin. I'm committed to the strict and expanded application of our Code. New development should proceed ONLY when all facilities and services are in place to handle that development. I'll continue my work to ensure this community has the tools to define its own course. I'm resolved that existing residents shouldn't lose what they have, merely to service new growth. Jim Soter Jim Soter Candidate for Commission Seat B .' Platform: My campaign is centered on three principal themes: Controlling and managing growth; limiting the tax burden borne by citizens; and involving the people of our county in solving the problems of the county. The Soter Plan for Controlling Growth and Preserving Open Space brings to our region a proven and innovative concept which makes use of a "Land Bank," funded by real estate transfer fees, and administered by a citizen-based panel. The plan is unique in that it accomplishes an objective shared by a multitude of our residents, while preserving property rights, and avoiding constitutional challenge.
