Show Spartans sink Braves; Vikes glide past CHS By DALE J. John Harrison won the 500 yard fly then came back to claim the 500 yard free with the breaststroke. The Vikings are gearing up for the Region 1 swim meet Jan. 30-31 at Layton High School. State 4A competition is slated for Feb. 8 and 9 at the University of Utah. The Vikes are led by first-year coach Jeff Vaughn and assistant Bob Jones. Serving as this year's girls' team captains are Christy Huff, Ann ali sa Jex and Kris Erickson. Filling team captain honors for the boys are Sean Dunroe, Andy Williams and Jeremy Archibald. VIEWMONT VIKINGS Viewmont High swimmers dominated the Clearfield Falcons Jan. 17 in a post-holiday, Region 1 matchup. The Lady Vikes out-distanced their Falcon opponents behind the first-place performance of the 200-yard 200-yard medley relay team. The Viemwont relay team consists of Christy Huff, Kris Erickson, Marisa Hills and Annalisa Jex. Sharon Forsberg spearheaded the Lady Vikings' singles effort swimming swim-ming to first place finishes in both the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events. Meanwhile, teammate Annalisa Jex claimed first place in both the 100 yard backstroke and fly. In the 400 yard free style relay, Jex returned to lead Viewmont to another first place finish with relay teammates Emily Christensen, Sharon Forsberg and Marisa Hills. In men's swirnming competition, the Vikes' 200 yard medley relay swam its way to another first place showing. Cade Viegel, Billy Hill, Randy Brown and Bryan Brown make up the medley team. In exhibition 200 yard relay competition, Jeremy Manning, Mark Haslip, Jason Coyle and Jake Thompson took first place. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Tim Andrus, Andy Williams, Sean Dunroe and Jeremy Archibald used teamwork and talent to beat their Falcon opponents and take first place. Brian Bird, Bodean Pomikala, Billy Hill and Cade Viegel took the 400 yard freestyle relay's first place award. Viewmont earned eight first place finishes in singles competition. competi-tion.
