Show Viewmont H. School forensic team faces - a 'rebuilding year7 BOUNTIFUL If Viewmont High forensic teacher Bob Greaves were an athletic coach, he would be in a "rebuilding year." That's because the 34-member forensic team is youngmostly sophomores and inexperienced. But they still have won their share of trophies and individual honors. "We don't expect to sweep many events as a team because we are too young and experienced, ' ' said Greaves, who noted that a few of his students are "walk-ins," having joined the forensic class within the past few weeks. Although the team competes in debate, impromptu, oratory, congress con-gress and domestic and foreign ex temporaneous speaking, only a handful of students have been consistent con-sistent winners in the school's first five meets with schools primarily along the Wasatch Front Some of the top performers week after week are Marie Green and Julie Shulties, oratory; Joanna Garrard Gar-rard and Andrew Plewe, foreign ex-temp.; ex-temp.; Jennifer Peterson and Melanie Roylance, impromptu; Jamie Kerr andBrandce Vest, domestic dom-estic extemp.; and Ruthie Martin Mar-tin eau, impromptu. Newcomers who placed high in recent events include Alan Ward, humorous reading; Marlene An-dregg, An-dregg, dramatic reading; and Leis Summerhays, foreign extemp. |
