Show 'Disasters9 class offered The Division of Continuing Education Edu-cation of the University of Utah will be offering a new course at both the Bountiful and Cedar Park off-campus off-campus locations. The new course is entitled "Responding to Utah's Natural Disasters. ' ' It describes and discusses public policy involved with pre-disaster, disaster, and post-disaster post-disaster actions for individuals, institutions, in-stitutions, and all levels of government govern-ment in lessening impact and facilitating recovery, based on experience ex-perience in Utah and other geographic regions. This course is not just for professionals; profes-sionals; it is relevant for everyone in the community. The course includes in-cludes history, philosophy, concepts, con-cepts, disaster case studies, public awareness, volunteerism, and similar simi-lar matters. Students will learn about principles prin-ciples involved with emergency management and will discuss questions ques-tions such as: Why is the information informa-tion important to me? Where do I fit in? And, how can I make a difference differ-ence in my community? Successful completion of Geography Geog-raphy 192R and 191R will qualify students for a certificate in Personal and Community Emergency Preparedness from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There are no prerequisites for the courses, and they can be taken in either order. Students can register through the Division of Continuing Education at the main University of Utah location. loca-tion. Class starts at Bountiful on April 2 and at Cedar Park on March 3 1 and both run all quarter. |
