Show Suspect arrested for felony theft By MARK EDDINGTON Staff Writer BOUNTIFUL A 31 -year-old Bountiful man wanted for a string of minor traffic violations was arrested ar-rested by a Bountiful police officer Tuesday, this time for felony theft of a parked vehicle. John Scott Cunningham was arrested ar-rested shortly after 2 a.m. by Sgt. Grant Hodgson, who was assisting the Davis County Sheriff's Office in searching for an auto burglar in the unincorporated area near 2900 S. 150 East. Bountiful Corporal Paul Rapp said a witness saw the suspect burglarizing a vehicle and provided Hodgson with a description. Minutes later, Hodgson saw a man matching the description leaving the area in his vehicle 'with his lights off. Hodgson pulled him over. A search of the vehicle uncovered un-covered property matching the reported missing items. Police also discovered Cunningham was wanted in connection with a series of misdemeanors and allege he was driving under the influence of alcohol. "It's not very often that we catch these vehicle burglars in the act," Rapp said. Cunningham was turned over to Sheriff's deputies and booked into the Davis County Jail. He is being charged with DUI and felony theft. He was arraigned earlier this week and is currently out on bail while awaiting trial. |
